CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team will begin conference action on Saturday, September 23 when they visit the North Park Vikings in the Windy City.

Augustana currently sits 0-4-2 on the season, playing to scoreless ties in their last two outings aganist Illinois College and Fontbonne. In their most recent match against the Griffins last Saturday, Augie defense stood strong in the opening half after facing seven shots from the Griffins to their two. Vikings goalkeeper Ignacio Alberola made all four of his saves in the game in the opening 45 minutes to keep the visitors off the board. Ismail Bennani and Jack Bohm fired the two attempts for Augustana, but neither were on target.

The script flipped in the second half, with the Vikings putting the pressure on the Griffins with 10 shots in the frame. The team saw multiple opportunities to break the deadlock, firing away four of their 10 attempts on target. Augie controlled the ball for most of the final 45 minutes, preventing Fontbonne from getting many looks on their end as they held them to just four shots in the second half. Neither could find the back of the net as the Vikings saw their second scoreless tie in a row.

Bennani led the team with a game-high three shots, while Jarrett Baumgartner and Rayane Haidi also added two.

North Park enters Saturday with a 4-2-1 mark, recently falling outside of the United Soccer Coaches top 25 for the first time all season. The Vikings broke a three-game winless streak in their last game, defeating Washington-St. Louis on the road by a score of 3-2. North Park began the year winning its first three contests, but lost two and tied one before their most recent win over the Bears.

Augustana holds a 24-18-2 advantage in the all-time series over North Park, but has dropped the last seven meetings. North Park won last season's encounter in Rock Island by a score of 4-0.
