ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team wrapped up their 2023 season on Saturday, falling to the visiting North Centrals by a score of 15-4.
The Cardinals notched the first eight goals of the game, all coming in the first half as they took an 8-0 lead into the break. Augustana cut into North Central's margin to begin the half, coming out with three consecutive goals within the opening three minutes of action.
Elijah Graesser notched his first of two in the scoring surge 30 seconds into the third quarter, followed by one from
Jake Moore at the 13:48 mark. Graesser cut the deficit to 8-3 with another tally at 12:44. The Cardinals countered the 3-0 burst with one of their own, reclaiming the eight-goal cushion heading into the final frame.
After back-to-back goals from North Central to begin the fourth,
Jack Connolly secured the Vikings' fourth score of the contest, sending one into the back of the net unassisted. The Cardinals tallied two more points to bring the game to its 15-4 final.
Caiden McCann posted a team-high four ground balls, also tying
Zach Reser with a team-best four caused turnovers.
Erik Singdahlsen and
Gus Magnusson combined for 16 saves in net.
With the loss, Augustana's season comes to and. The Vikings finish with a record of 6-10.
