ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The Augustana Vikings women's water polo team will begin their postseason run on Friday, April 21 at the Collegiate Water Polo Association DIII West Championships.

The No. 6 ranked Vikings earned the No. 1 seed in the upcoming tournament after finishing the regular season with a 7-1 record in conference. The team is coming off a perfect 4-0 weekend at the latest regional event in Kenosha, Wis. to claim the top seed. The weekend included a victory over then first-place Austin, winning by a score of 13-8. The Vikings are allowing just 4.6 goals per game in conference contests this season. 

Augustana will learn their first matchup of the weekend early Friday afternoon as they await the winner of Carthage and Penn State Behrend in the No. 8 vs. 9 game. Augie is 5-0 all-time against the Firebirds, winning all three meetings this season by a combined 40-12 margin. Carthage is 4-14 overall this season and 2-7 against CWPA teams. Augustana has never played Penn State Behrend, who enters their meeting with Carthage with a 2-17 overall record. Start time for the Vikings' first game is Friday at 5:20 p.m.
