ELMHURST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will step back into CCIW action this weekend, beginning with a road doubleheader against the Elmhurst Bluejays on Saturday, April 15 before returning home to host the North Park Vikings on Sunday, April 16.

Augustana currently sits 11-13 overall and 2-4 in conference. The team recently split a non-conference doubleheader with the Dubuque Spartans on Thursday, winning game one in extra innings by a score of 3-2 before dropping the finale in extras by a score of 4-3. Lauren Koster earned the win on the mound in game one, also securing the game-winning RBI on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth. Nadia Ranieri and Claudia Buchholz combined for five of the Vikings' 10 hits in the win. Dubuque bounced back with two runs in the top of the eighth inning in game two to take a 4-2 lead, fending off a late rally from Augustana to hold on for the one-run win.

Saturday's opponent for Augie will be the Bluejays of Elmhurst, who sit with a record of 10-11 on the season and 3-1 in the CCIW. Elmhurst recently dropped two games in a non-conference doubleheader with Aurora, coming one day after sweeping North Central in a pair of contests at home. The Bluejays are 3-1 at their home field this season. Augustana leads the all-time series between the two programs 61-21. They split a doubleheader in Rock Island a season ago. Game one is scheduled for 1 p.m.

On Sunday, the Vikings return home to face North Park in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. North Park currently sits 13-14-1 on the year and 5-1 in conference. The Vikings have one three straight and five of their last six, most recently defeating North Central in a pair of games by scores of 1-0 and 7-4. Augie is 51-13 all-time against their Viking counterpart, splitting a road series last season in Chicago.
