ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will return home on Saturday, April 15 and resume CCIW action when they welcome the Carroll Pioneers to Thorson-Lucken Field for Senior Day.
Augustana currently sits with a record of 5-7, most recently falling in their final true road contest of the season by a score of 9-6 at MSOE on Thursday. Augie saw four first-half goals from
Jake Moore on their way to one-goal advantage at halftime, but fell behind following a 3-0 third period in favor of the Raiders. Augie saw one final score in the final frame from
Tommy Kopman to pull within three, but the game went the rest of the way without any more goals and the 9-6 score remained intact to the end. The Vikings will play three of their final four games of the regular season at home, with their lone other contest a neutral-site matchup with Transylvania in Bloomington, Ill.
Carroll enters Saturday sporting a 3-10 overall record and 0-2 mark in the CCIW. The Pioneers were recently defeated by Transylvania in Kenosha, Wis. by a score of 18-4. Carroll has dropped their last two outings after picking up their third win of the season against Concordia-Chicago in a non-conference battle back on March 29. The Pioneers are 1-4 on the road this season.
Augie is a perfect 7-0 all-time against Carroll, winning last year's meeting in Wisconsin by a score of 22-3.
Jack Connolly and
Brady Holtz both notched hat tricks in the win, with
Paul Huber causing four turnovers on the defensive end. The Vikings have not allowed more than three goals in each of their seven previous encounters with the Pioneers.
Start time on Saturday is scheduled for noon. The Vikings will recognize six seniors immediately following the conclusion of the contest.Â
