ROCK ISLAND -- Head Augustana men's basketball coach Tom Jessee has announced the award winners for the 2022-23 season.

Daniel Carr, a senior from Highlands Ranch, Colo. was named the team's recipient of the Most Outstanding and Leading Rebounder awards. He concluded 2022-23 campaign averaging a double double for the third straight season, tallying 14.5 points per game and 10.8 rebounds. He began the season named to the D3hoops.com All-American list and later on was also named to the Small College Basketball Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List. This season, Carr accumulated 11 double doubles and six 20-point games, including a stretch of four in a row in early December. In the team's season finale against North Park, he notched his 1,000th career point at Augustana, the 30th player in program history to accomplish the feat.

In the CCIW, Carr ranked in the top 10 in scoring and finished as the league's top rebounder. He also ranked 17th in field goal percentage and 12th in three-point percentage. His 19 blocks on the year landed him sixth-best in the CCIW. His 11 double doubles put him at 36th most in the national at the NCAA DIII level. 

Chase Larsen, a sophomore from Arlington Heights, Ill., was named the recipient of the Best Defender Award after ranking third on the team in steals and second in blocks in 2022-23. He was fourth on the team in scoring and second in rebounds putting up 9.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per outing. He was the only player on the team to start all 25 games for the Vikings, finishing atop the team in minutes played at 27.6 per contest. Larsen had nine games scoring in double figures in 2022-23.

Dani Romero, a freshman from Malaga, Spain, was named the Junior Varsity MVP. Romero also appeared in five games at the varsity level this season.
