3/29/2023 5:00:00 PM

ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will return home on Thursday, March 30 when they host the Monmouth Fighting Scots in a rescheduled contest from earlier this month.

Augie currently sits at 4-4 following a 13-6 defeat to the Sewanee Tigers on Thursday. The two teams played a back-and-forth opening quarter, with the Tigers taking a 3-2 lead into the second before doubling up the Vikings in the next period. The home team held Augustana to just two second half goals as they continued to extend their advantage and pull away for the seven-point win. Elijah Graesser and Brenson Brown led the Vikings' offensive attack with two goals apiece, while Paul Huber notched a game-high four caused turnovers to go with five ground balls. Sewanee out-shot Augustana 67-26 in the contest, with Erik Singdahlsen and Gus Magnusson combining for 20 saves in net for Augie.

Monmouth enters Thursday with a 1-7 overall record, defeated in their last three outings. In their most recent contest, the Fighting Scots fell in a close 13-11 contest to Clarke. Three of the team's last four games have been decided by two points or less. Monmouth's lone win on the season came against fellow CCIW opponent Carroll by a score of 8-7.

Thursday will be just the third meeting all-time between the two programs, each winning one of their previous two encounters. The Fighting Scots edged the Vikings in their most recent time out, winning by a score of 8-7 back in 2020.

Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. from Thorson-Lucken Field.
