SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will be back in action on Tuesday, March 28 when they face the Sewanee Tigers down in Tennessee.
Augustana currently sits at 4-3 overall on the season, most recently squeaking out a 13-12 home win over the Alma Scots on Saturday. The Vikings jumped out to a lead as big as seven points before a late comeback push from the Scots brought the game tied at 12 points apiece. A late score from
Brenson Brown with around one minute remaining proved to be the difference maker and the Augie defense halted one final equalizing attempt from Alma to secure the win.
Carson Ghys,
Elijah Graesser, and
Brady Holtz all posted three-goal efforts to lead the Vikings on offense, whileÂ
Jack Connolly joined Ghys and Graesser with two assists each.
Trevor Herman finished 23-28 on faceoff attempts, also leading the team in ground balls with 16.Â
Tommy Kopman andÂ
Paul Huber contributed two caused turnovers on defense, whileÂ
Erik Singdahlsen earned the win in goal, finishing with nine saves.
The Tigers enter Tuesday with an overall record of 6-1, recently winning a one-goal game of their own over Birmingham-Southern last Friday by a score of 8-7. Sewanee is currently riding a three-game winning streak and are winners of five of their last six outings after beginning the season 1-2. The Tigers have three wins this season in which they have scored less than 10 goals.
Tuesday will be just the second meeting ever between the two programs, with Sewanee winning their lone meeting.
Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
