HANOVER, Ind. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will be back in action on Sunday, March 26 when they take on the Hanover Panthers in a non-conference road matchup.

Augustana currently sits at 6-6 on the year, most recently splitting a doubleheader with the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on March 15. Augie fell in the opener by a score of 13-2, but bounced back with a 5-2 win in the finale. The Vikings wasted no time with three runs in their opening at-bat of game two. With two outs and just one runner on, Ashlyn Mathers and Morgan Bielfeldt notched consecutive run-producing hits to give Augie a 2-0 advantage. An error from the Bees two batters later gave the Vikings the early 3-0 lead. The two teams went scoreless in the second, followed by Augustana stretching their margin to four in the top of the third on another error from the home squad. St. Ambrose earned the score right back in their half of the inning, making the score 4-1 in favor of the Vikings heading into the fourth. Once more, the two teams traded runs in the frame, with Augie seeing theirs come from the Bees' third error of the contest. Nadia Ranieri shut down the Bees in the final two innings to wrap up the complete game, striking out eight batters along the way.

The Vikings will head to Indiana on Sunday for a doubleheader against the Hanover Panthers. Hanover currently sits 7-13 on the season, but are winners of their last three. The Panthers swept a road doubleheader at Asbury in their recent outing, taking game one by a score of 12-1 before winning game two by a final of 12-5. Hanover is an even 6-6 since beginning the year 1-7.

Augustana is 4-1 all-time against the Panthers. The two teams last met in 2017 in Clermont, Fla., resulting in a 12-2 win for Hanover. Game one is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CDT.
