ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will return home on Saturday, March 25 to face the Alma Scots in a non-conference matchup.
Augustana dropped to 3-3 overall on the season following a 16-6 road defeat to Dubuque on Wednesday. The Vikings found themselves in an early hold to begin the contest, seeing the first five goals go the Spartans' way. Augustana fought back after trailing by six in the second period to cut it to four, but could not catch up to Dubuque as they home team posted an 8-2 advantage in the final 30 minutes of action.Â
Gus Magnusson finished with 12 saves in net for the Vikings, whileÂ
Paul Huber andÂ
Caiden McCann each caused three turnovers.
Jack Connolly was the team's offensive leader, ending his night with the two goals and an assist.
Alma comes to Rock Island sporting a 2-4 overall record. The Scots are enduring a two-game losing streak, most recently dropping a neutral-site contest to Muskingum in Tiffin, Ohio. Alma led by two with just over three minutes remaining, but three straight scores, including one with 11 seconds remaining, gave Muskingum the win. The Scots have scored in double figures in all but two games this season.
Augustana has won all four meetings all-time between the two programs, including last year's encounter in Michigan by a score of 13-11.
Elijah Graesser had three goals in the win for the Vikings. Each of the last two matchups between Augustana and Alma have been decided by two points.Â
Start time is scheduled for noon from Thorson-Lucken Field.Â
