DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's lacrosse team will hit the road for just the second time so far this season on Wednesday, March 22 when they visit the Dubuque Spartans for a non-conference contest.

Augie moved their record over .500 with a victory over the Kalamazoo Hornets recently, winning by a score of 9-7 to push their record to 3-2 on the year. The Vikings fell behind early 3-0 in the game, but charged back with five unanswered goals to take the lead for good. Kalamazoo got within a point just once the remainder of the game as Augie held a multi-goal advantage to the end. The Hornets out-shot the Vikings 46-41 in the contest, but Augie's defense was anchored by goalkeeper Gus Magnusson, who finished with a career-high 22 saves. Trevor Herman finished 15-20 in faceoff attempts for the Vikings, also grabbing a game-best 13 ground balls. Carson Ghys led the offense with three goals and one assist.

Dubuque enters Wednesday with a 2-4 overall record, recently seeing their two-game winning streak come to an end after a 17-9 defeat to fellow CCIW school Carthage. The Spartans began the year 0-3 before knocking off Concordia` (Wis.) and Beloit in consecutive games. Dubuque notched a total of 41 goals in their two wins, but has scored a total of just 29 in their four losses.

Augustana has never lost to Dubuque, winning all eight meetings all-time. The two teams met last season in Rock Island, resulting in a 10-6 win for the Vikings. Ghys and Brady Holtz each accounted for goals in the win.
