Daniel Carr named CSC Academic All-American

Carr is Augustana's 178th Academic All-American

GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Daniel Carr of Augustana men's basketball has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-American Team, the organization announced Tuesday. Carr is the 178th Academic All-American in Augustana College history, which ranks No. 1 in the CCIW and seventh in all of NCAA Division III.

Carr, a senior from Highlands Ranch, Colo. recently was named All-CCIW for the third straight season after averaging a double-double in 2022-23. Among his accolades throughout his career, this past season saw him named to the Small College Basketball Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List, as well as D3hoops.com preseason All-American. Carr recently became the 30th Augustana men's player to eclipse 1,000 points for a career and finished up the 2022-23 season ranked ninth in the CCIW in scoring, first in rebounding, sixth in blocks, and top 20 in field goal percentage. He also ranked top 40 in the nation in double doubles, finishing his senior campaign with 11. He scored in double figures in all but eight games this season. On Tuesday, March 14, he was named D3Hoops.com All-Region for the second time in his career.

Carr is an Accounting and Business Administration-Management major currently boasting a 3.91 grade point average. Additional accolades for him include Academic All-Conference and recipient of the Presidential Scholarship, Harold and Louise Lage Swanson Scholarship, Professor S. James Galley Scholarship, Arthur Andersen Scholarship, Thomas C. Montgomery Memorial Scholarship, and Jack Swartz Award two times. In spring 2023, he will earn his eighth appearance on the Augustana Dean's List. This past fall, Carr ran a free of charge basketball clinic at the Rock Island recreation center where participants received a ticket to the Augustana home basketball game versus Aurora.

Carr is Augustana's first Academic All-American since Jenna Dvorak in 2020 and the first men's basketball student-athlete since Ben Ryan in 2016.
