CHICAGO, Ill. – The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team opens their season on Wednesday, March 1, against the Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks. 

Augie finished the 2022 season with an overall record of 5-9 and a conference record of 1-5. Midway through their non-conference schedule, the Vikings went on a three-game winning streak, their longest since the 2018 season. During that span, Augie won two games by eight goals or more, including a 16-4 victory over Beloit at home. The Vikings outscored their opponents 78-43 in their five wins. Cassidy Petrie returns for her senior season after finishing second on the team in goals with 27 last year.

Illinois Tech enters with a 0-1 record after losing their season opener in a road matchup against Adrian. The Scarlet Hawks were led on offense by Kelly Hitchcock, who earned a hat trick on six shot attempts. She also claimed seven ground balls and won three draw controls in the all-around performance. The Scarlet Hawks achieved a record of 3-8 in 2022. Wednesday will mark the first-ever meeting between Augie and Illinois Tech.
