DAVENPORT, Iowa— The Augustana men's volleyball team travels across the Mississippi River for a matchup against the St. Ambrose Fighting Bees on Wednesday, February 22.

The Vikings improved to a 7-3 record on Saturday after dropping the visiting Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors in three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18, 25-15. Augie coasted to an opening set victory, leaping to a 13-4 lead, with an Aidan Bolen kill at 21-13 snuffing out any comeback momentum from the Warriors. The two teams battled closely in the second frame, with an early nine-point advantage for Augustana trimmed to four at 14-10. A Ben Schultz kill followed by back-to-back service aces from Zach Moreano saw Augie jump out to a 2-0 lead in the match. Similar to the opening frame, the two teams deadlocked early, but a 9-2 scoring run midway through the set proved to be the difference, as Augie secured the three-game sweep.

The Vikings led the Warriors in kills by a 41-11 margin, paced by Bolen's 11 and Schultz's eight. Augustana hit at a .411 clip and had five members record at least four kills. Matthew Degnan led Augie in assists with 33.

St. Ambrose holds a 4-10 record and has lost both of their contests since facing the Vikings a little over a week ago on February 14. Their most recent competition was a 3-0 defeat to Saint Xavier, losing by set scores of 25-19, 25-13, 25-14. The Fighting Bees hit at a .188 clip and were outgained 47-22 in kills. In their meeting last Tuesday, Augie and St. Ambrose battled through four sets, with the Vikings securing their home debut by a 3-1 final. Augustana bested St. Ambrose 59-37 in total kills, led by Moreano's season-high 22 spikes. Degnan tied a career-best 46 assists in the cross-river battle. Augie will look to even the all-time series on Wednesday as they currently trail the Fighting Bees 3-2.

The rivalry matchup's start time is 7:00 p.m. from Lee Lohman Arena. The stream link can be found here.
