Swaney, a fifth-year senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, was a First Team All-CCIW selection this season after leading the Vikings in tackles and finishing fourth in the CCIW with 78 during the regular season. He also ranked 11th in the league with tackles for loss with 9.5 and was third on the team in sacks. This season marked the second time Swaney has been named All-Conference in his career. Macdonald, a fifth-year senior from DeKalb, Ill., earned Second Team All-CCIW this season from the offensive line. He helped anchor a rushing attack that ranked third in the conference with over 200 yards per game. The Vikings also sat third in conference in sacks allowed, one of just three teams to give up less than 15. They are also one of just four teams to allow less than 100 sack yards for the season. Macdonald also was selected to the 2023 D3Football.com All-Region Team. He ended his career with 34 straight starts. Additionally, he holds three-time Academic All-Conference honors, and is a three-time recipient of the Accounting department scholarship, and two-time recipient of the Business Department Scholarship. He is a double major in Accounting & Business Administration.
Both Swaney and Macdonald were involved in a community service project with the Rock Island Water Line Inventory Project.
