GREENWOOD, Ind. -- Three Augustana soccer student-athletes have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District teams, the organization announced Tuesday afternoon.

Daniele Meloni of Augustana men's soccer was named to the Academic All-District Team. Meloni started 12 of 15 games this season for the Vikings, registering five shots. He is a International Business and Finance major at Augustana with a 3.759 GPA. He is also a Dean's List honoree at Augustana.

Janey Castoe and Liesl Whitener were also named Academic All-District from the women's soccer program.. Castoe was a First Team All-CCIW selection in 2023 and was named the winner of the inaugural Goalkeeper of the Year Award. The senior from La Quinta, Calif. was first in the CCIW in both save percentage (.868) and shutouts (9). She also ranked second in goals against average as one of just two players allowing less than one per game. Additionally, Castoe was third in the conference in both saves and saves per game. She posted a record of 7-4-4 in net this season. She is a psychology major boasting a GPA of 3.55.

Whitener, a now two-time All-District selection, earned All-CCIW honors this year for the third time in her career, checking in on Second Team after leading the team in goals with 12 this season. The senior ranked fourth in the league in goals and was second in game-winning tallies with six. She has accounted for 60 percent of the team's scores this season. The Dean's List honoree is a double major in Biology and Kinesiology on the pre-PA track at Augustana with a 3.54 GPA.

The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 19 (men) and December 20 (women). The CSC Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes listed at the links above.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
