Box Score 2 ERIE, Pa. -- The Augustana Vikings men's water polo team concluded a perfect weekend in the state of Pennsylvania on Sunday, winning a road contest over the Penn State Behrend Lions by a score of 25-8.
A big opening quarter gave the Vikings a wide cushion to begin the game, putting up 11 goals on their way to a six-point advantage after eight minutes of play. The defense stole the show in the second period, holding the Lions scoreless as a 4-0 margin in the frame put the team up double figures at halftime. The Vikings went on to post a 6-1 third quarter before doubling up Penn State Behrend in the fourth to complete the 17-point win, the team's largest margin of victory this season.
A total of 14 Vikings notched at least one goal in the win, led by four from
Harrison Cook.
Ian Palmroos,
Alden Brinkmeier, and
Rhys Lomax all were next with three apiece, while
Oskar Bannister secured a team-best four assists to go with his two scores.
Ian Root earned the victory in net for Augustana, stopping 13 shots while adding two steals and two assists.
The win for the Vikings makes it a perfect 5-0 trip and a 3-0 start to MPSF play. Augustana was also credited a win for their scheduled Sunday contest against Wheaton (Mass.) due to forfeit.
Augie now sits at 9-5 overall and will be back in action at home on November 4-5.
