NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will wrap up the 2023 regular season on Wednesday, October 25 when they travel to take on the North Central Cardinals.

Augustana currently sits with a 10-3-4 overall record and a 3-1-3 mark in the CCIW, coming off a scoreless draw with Carroll on Saturday. The Augie defense was busy in the contest, closing the opening half with an 11-0 deficit in the shots category. The Pioneers saw just three of their 11 attempts on target, all of which were saved by Janey Castoe. Another big disparity in shots followed in the second half, but this time a majority of Carroll's looks at the net posed scoring threats as nine of their 10 strikes were on target. Castoe continued her strong day in net, racking up eight saves in the final 45 minutes to keep the visitors out of the net and the 0-0 score intact. Caelan Cole fired Augie's lone shot attempt in the 48th minute, but it was saved by the Pioneers.

North Central enters Wednesday with a 15-2 overall record and 7-0 mark in conference play. The Cardinals have out-scored conference opponents 31-0 this season and are in the midst 11 wins in a row, defeating Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday in their most recent outing by a score of 6-0. North Central is a perfect 7-0 on its home field this season.

The Vikings are 21-5-2 all-time against the Cardinals, but are looking for their first win in the series since 2018. The two teams tied last season in Rock Island with a score of 1-1. Lexi Dominguez notched the lone goal for the Vikings in the 81st minute.
