GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team saw their 12-game unbeaten streak come to an end on Saturday, falling in a non-conference contest to the Grinnell Pioneers by a score of 1-0.
The Vikings and Pioneers played nearly a scoreless first half, but the home team notched the first and only goal in the 44th minute to bring a 1-0 lead into halftime. Grinnell held a 6-4 shot advantage through 45 minutes and saved three of the Vikings' attempts on target.
Augie saw three chances at the net in the second half, with two coming on goal, but could not find the equalizing shot as the Pioneers held on for the 1-0 victory.
Liesl Whitener and
Carson Kekelik led the team with two shots apiece.
Janey Castoe notched three saves.
The Vikings drop to 10-2-3 on the season and will return home on Wednesday to face Wheaton.
