ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will look to pick up their third-straight win overall and fourth-consecutive in the Carver Center on Wednesday, February 1 when they host the No. 8 ranked Wheaton Thunder.

Augie is currently 7-13 overall and 5-6 in the CCIW following a wire-to-wire 89-80 victory over Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday. Tje Vikings jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back, pushing it out to 15 after one half of action. The margin grew to as many as 20 points in the second half before a late push from the Titans got the score under double figures with just seconds left. Fresh off of a season-best 14 points on Wednesday, Matt Hanushewsky followed it up with another top-scoring output with 17 points. Tyler Knuth led all Vikings on the night, tallying 20 points on over 50 percent shooting. Matt Hawkins and Chase Larsen each added 14, while Daniel Carr narrowly missed out on a double-double, ending with nine points and 11 rebounds. As a team, the Vikings shot 54.4 percent on the evening and 43 percent from behind the arc. The team also converted 18 of their 22 attempts from the free-throw line.

The Thunder enter Wednesday with a 17-3 overall record and 9-2 mark in conference. The team saw their nine-game winning streak come to an end last week, falling to North Park on the road by a score of 66-63. The team bounced back with a 76-60 victory over Carthage on Saturday to maintain their first-place standing in the league. The Thunder dropped one spot to No. 8 in the country in the latest D3hoops.com top 25 poll following their 1-1 week. The loss to North Park was their first on the road all season. Wheaton is led by senior guard Tyson Cruickshank, who is averaging 19.4 points per outing this year.

Augustana leads the all-time series 78-69, but has dropped four of the last five meetings with Wheaton, including their matchup earlier this season. The Thunder defeated the Vikings back on November 30. Wheaton outscored Augie by 13 in the second half after leading by just a point after 20 minutes. Carr and Hawkins led the scoring for the Vikings, tallying 17 and 16 points.

Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. from inside the Carver Center.
