BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's basketball team will be back in action following almost a week off when they hit the road on Saturday, January 14 to take on the Illinois Wesleyan Titans from inside the Shirk Center.

Augie is fresh off their most dominant showing of the season last Sunday, defeating the visiting Carroll Pioneers 91-59 at home. The Vikings broke away from an early tie and quickly extended their first-half advantage to double figures before scoring the final 11 points of the frame to take a 52-28 lead into halftime. Tyler Knuth notched 19 of his game-high 25 points in the first. The junior hit six of his shots in the opening frame and connected on five three-pointers. The Vikings did not slow down in the second and continued to click on both offense and defense, finishing the game with their highest point total of the season and largest margin of victory since defeating Aurora by 36 in 2021. Both Chase Larsen and Daniel Carr joined Knuth in double figures, scoring 19 and 13 points. Carr added 13 rebounds as well. Augie improved to 4-11 overall and 2-4 in the CCIW with the win.

Illinois Wesleyan enters Saturday with a 7-6 overall record and 4-2 mark in conference play. The Titans snapped a two-game skid on Wednesday, picking up a 73-68 home win over Millikin. The victory was their first in CCIW action in the last three games, falling to Wheaton and Carthage after beginning the CCIW with a 3-0 record. Illinois Wesleyan is 3-3 at home this season, dropping two non-conference tilts with UW-Stevens Point and Washington-St. Louis by a combined six points. The Titans are averaging just over 66 points per game this season and are led by Cody Mitchell's 13.9 points per game mark.

The Titans lead the all-time series over the Vikings, 98-78 and have won three straight over Augustana. Illinois Wesleyan secured both meetings last season, a five-point win in Bloomington and a six-point win in the season finale in Rock Island. Prior to the Vikings' three-game losing streak against the Titans, the team had previously won six of the last seven from 2018-2020.

Start time is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Live coverage of the game can be found here.
