ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's soccer team will hit the road for the first time this season on Thursday, September 8 when they take on the Rockford Regents.

Augustana is coming off of a 2-2 tie with the Coe Kohawks in their last outing. The Vikings trailed 1-0 at the half following a goal from the visitors 11 minutes in. Augie tied things up early on in the second, but were met with another score from Coe just minutes later. With less than three minutes remaining, an aggressive Vikings offense took advantage of a Coe handball in the box, setting up a penalty kick for Bjarki Stole, who sent into the net to make it a 2-2 contest. The Kohawks put up a few shots down the stretch, but Augie fended off the scoring threats as the clock ran out with each team sitting with the two goals.

Rockford enters Thursday with a 0-0-2 record following a couple of draws. The Regents fought to a scoreless tie in their season opener with Manchester before securing a 2-2 with St. Mary's (Minn.) in their most recent outing. Rockford finished the 2021 season with a 5-11-1 overall record. The Regents will take on Cornell on Wednesday night before hosting Augie on Thursday.

The Vikings defeated the Regents at home in 2021 by a score of 3-0. Jarrett Baumgartner posted a hat trick in the win. Augie is 7-5-2 all-time against Rockford.
