MONMOUTH, Ill. -- The Augustana men's soccer team will travel to face the Monmouth Fighting Scots on Wednesday, September 28th at Peacock Memorial Athletic Park as they look to get into the win column for the first time this season.

The Vikings were defeated by No. 5 North Park over the weekend to drop to 0-6-1 on the season. The visitors won the contest 4-0 with two goals split between each half. Augie was on their back foot for a majority of the match, but that opened up an opportunity for a career showing from goalkeeper Benjamin Samuelson, who recorded 18 saves on the afternoon.

Monmouth enters Wednesday with a 1-5-2 overall record. The Fighting Scots are coming off a loss to Finlandia, where they led the contest 3-0 with 30 minutes remaining but allowed four unanswered goals to lose the match. Their lone win of the season came just four days prior at home against Coe.

Augustana holds a 23-2 all-time record against Monmouth, beginning with a 4-1 win in 1979. The last matchup between the two programs was also won by the Vikings in a 2-0 victory over the Fighting Scots at Thorson-Lucken Field in 2021. Augie will look to get their season on track before CCIW play steadily ramps up, starting this Saturday against Carthage on the road.
