ROCK ISLAND -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will return home for their conference opener on Saturday, September 24 when they host the North Park Vikings at Thorson-Lucken Field.
Augie comes in sporting a 4-3-1 record after earning a draw with the UW-Platteville Pioneers on Tuesday. The Vikings fell behind 2-0 within the first 12 minutes of the game, but got within one later on in the first half on a goal from
Lexi Dominguez. The 2-1 differential stayed in tact until just under 20 minutes remaining, when
Kim Vulic notched the equalizer on a pass from
Samira Khobdeh. The 2-2 score held to the end as each team walked away with their first draw of the season.
North Park enters Saturday with a 2-3-1 record. The team snapped a four-game winless streak on Wednesday with a 4-0 victory over Ripon. North Park and Augie have one common opponent this season, each defeating Benedictine by an identical score of 2-0.
Augustana is 23-2-1 all-time versus North Park, winning the last two meetings. Augie won last year's encounter in Rock Island by a score of 2-1.
