BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's tennis team picked up a conference road win on Friday, defeating the Illinois Wesleyan Titans by a score of 9-0.
It was a clean sweep across the board for the Vikings, beginning with three near-perfect doubles matches.
Lily Schoeck and
Hannah Colbert posted a 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, along with two 8-0 wins at No. 2 and 3 from
Caitlyn Hanulikova/
Natasha Gauerke and
Maddy Harned/
Mikayla Kelly. Augie led 3-0 in the match heading into singles.
Once again it was a nearly flawless effort in singles, with all but one set resulting in a 6-0 score. Shoeck and Hanulikova earned wins at the top two spots, with
Michaela Magee and Colbert grabbing victories at No. 3 and 4. Gauerke and
Hattie Timerman also picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 5 and 6 slots.
With the victory, Augie improves to 1-1 both overall and in CCIW play. The team will be back in action on Saturday, September 17 at Millikin. Start time is scheduled for noon.
