APPLETON, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will hit the road for the first of two consecutive games in the state of Wisconsin, beginning with a matchup against the Lawrence Vikings on Saturday, September 17.
Augie enters the weekend with a 4-2 overall record and are winners of two straight. The Vikings defeated the Simpson Storm in their most recent outing at home by a score of 2-1. Two first-half goals from
Kayla Garcia and
Samira Khobdeh were enough as Augustana fended off 27 shot attempts from the Storm for a 2-1 victory.
Janey Castoe had a career-best ten saves in net.
Lawrence currently sits at 3-3 on the season, but have won three in a row after starting the year 0-3. The Vikings of Lawrence recently defeated UW-Oshkosh on the road by a score of 2-1 to bring them back to .500 on the year. The Vikings have scored eight goals total during their three-game winning streak, previously going the first three contests without scoring any.
Augustana is 4-0 all-time against Lawrence, winning the most recent meeting back in 2019 by a score of 9-0. Augie has won the last three encounters by a combined score of 26-0.
