ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's soccer team will conclude their four-game home stand on Wednesday, September 14 when they host the Simpson Storm at Thorson-Lucken Field.
The Vikings enter Wednesday sporting a 3-2 record following a 4-1 win over Monmouth on Saturday. The Vikings scored all four of their goals in the opening 45 minutes, led by two from
Kayla Garcia and one each from
Liesl Whitener and
Maeve Sheridan. Garcia was named the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week on offense on Tuesday.
Simpson currently sits with a 2-2-1 record overall. The Storm have won two of their last three after going the first two games of the season without a win. Simpson has outscored their opponents 8-0 in their two wins this year, but have been outscored 5-1 in their two losses. Their lone tie came against fellow CCIW foe Illinois Wesleyan, which resulted in a 1-1 draw. The Storm defeated Dallas in their most recent outing by a score of 3-0.
Augustana is 6-4-2 all-time against Simpson. The Storm won their meeting last season in Indianola, Iowa by a final of 2-1.
