Men’s tournament run ended by top-seeded North Central

Vikings end season 7-12 overall, 4-3 in conference play

Box Score KENOSHA, Wis. – The Augustana men's tennis season came to an end this morning in the second round of the CCIW Championship. The fourth-seeded Vikings were upended by regular-season conference champion and number one seed North Central by a 5-1 score.
 
The Vikings notched their lone point in the first doubles match. Arthur Hermange and Leo Panosso defeated Ramon Vilarroig and Guillermo Gonzalez by an 8-6 margin. North Central took the other two doubles matches over Kyle Boudreau/Tim Philip and Justin Cassens/Nico Navarro by scores of 8-6 and 8-3, respectively.
 
The Cardinals swept all six singles matches to clinch the team victory. Javier Suarez took down Panosso 6-2, 6-1 in the second single match. Gonzalez then defeated Deepak Vayara 6-0, 6-4 in the third position. Finally, Morgan Red beat Gabo Luna 6-2, 6-3 to cap the contest.

"We battled and competed well today against a very tough North Central team," Augustana head coach David DeSimone said afterwards, "I'm happy with the progress we've made over the course of the season and proud of this group of guys."

North Central will take on the winner of #2 Carthage and #3 Wheaton in Saturday's championship tilt.

The Augustana men finished the 2022 spring campaign with an overall record of 7-12 and a 4-3 mark in CCIW competition.
