ATHENS, Greece -- The Augustana men's basketball team completed its 2022 tour of Greece with a 65-60 victory on Sunday against Enosi Iliou in front of a raucous crowd of fans for both sides.

In the opening frame, the Vikings shot it well behind a balanced scoring attack from all over the court, making five two-point shots and four threes. The unselfish play was a highlight of the trip for the young Vikings, with contributions up and down the roster throughout their time in Greece.

Augustana played its best defensive quarter of their trip in the second frame, limiting the home team to just eight points. Playing as connected as ever, the entire roster was flying around the court, covering up for one another, protecting the paint, and seemingly contesting every shot Enosi Iliou attempted.

Playing four games in five nights may have caught up with the Vikings in the second half, as the offense began to sputter a bit. The Augustana defense never wavered though, clamping down and dominating the boards, giving up only 29 points in the half with a plus-10 rebounding edge.

Enosi Iliou made it tough on the Vikings in the final quarter, cutting the deficit to two at one point. The Vikings made enough plays down the stretch to close out the game, finishing with two stops and clutch free throws from sophomore Chase Larsen and senior Dan Carr to seal the victory.

Carr again paced Augustana with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Larsen finished with 11 points and eight rebounds of his own. Junior Tyler Knuth and sophomore Anthony Cooper added eight points a piece, attacking the rim with strength. Senior Matt Hanushewsky continued his strong point guard play on our trip, contributing five points and six assists of his own.

The Vikings return home tomorrow, with a 15-hour travel day from Athens to Chicago. Don't forget to check out the player blog HERE and follow along with all of our social media feeds for one last peak behind the curtain of the team's 2022 tour of Greece.
