ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana baseball (29-10, 11-7) is set to begin play at the 2022 CCIW Baseball Tournament. The Vikings earned the fourth seed the conference tournament and will begin their run on Wednesday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. versus the third-seeded Wheaton Thunder.
Augustana ended its regular season schedule last weekend with a road double-header at Wheaton. The two teams split that day's contests and Wheaton won their season finale in a 12-2 drubbing of North Park. Wheaton's victory over NPU was enough to put them over Augie in the final regular season standings. Wheaton enters the CCIW Tournament with an even 18-18 overall record and an 11-7 mark in conference play.
The tournament is being hosted by North Central and will take place completely in Naperville, Ill. The hosts from NCC claimed their 17
th league championship overall and seventh-straight regular season crown. The Cardinals were ranked 15
th nationally in the most recent D3baseball.com/National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25.
Augustana is seeking its first tournament title since 2016 and fourth of all time. Including this season, the Vikings have made 24 total CCIW Tournaments, tied for second in the league with Millikin.
