KENOSHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will compete in their home opener on Sunday, April 10 as they gear up to host the Illinois Wesleyan Titans.
The Vikings are coming off of a CCIW-opening split last weekend on the road against the North Park Vikings. Augie took game one by a score of 3-2 following a two-hit complete game on the mound from
Nadia Ranieri. North Park got even in game two, fending off an Augustana comeback to hold on by a final of 9-8.
Nichole Nash went 3-4 at the plate with five runs batted in and was a home run short of a cycle to help lead the Vikings' offensive efforts. Augustana currently sits 13-6 on the season and 1-1 in league play.
On Sunday, the Vikings will host the Titans for their first home games of the season. Illinois Wesleyan sits 12-7 so far this season and have won their last seven contests after beginning the year with a 1-5 record. Five of the team's seven losses have come against ranked teams, also picking up one win against a top 25 opponent back in March when they defeated No. 24 Muskingum. In their most recent outing, they went a perfect 3-0 in a home tournament, defeating Chicago twice and UW-Whitewater.Â
The Titans lead the all-time series over the Vikings 58-50 and have won six of the last seven meetings. Illinois Wesleyan swept the doubleheader a year ago in Bloomington.
Start times are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday and 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Live video and stat links will be posted to the Augustana athletics website.
