ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana men's lacrosse (7-3) will face another road test this weekend with a trip to Naperville. The Vikings are set to square off against the Cardinals of North Central.
North Central enters the weekend with a 4-5 overall record and a 0-1 mark in conference action. The Cardinals are coming off a narrow 16-13 loss at conference leader Illinois Wesleyan. Prior to their defeat to open league play, North Central rattled off three straight wins over Dubuque, Calvin, and Aurora.
NCC is led by a foursome of productive offensive players. Tom Eberhardt leads the pack with 29 goals on the season. Jack Moran and Scott Allgood have also been key contributors with a combined 31 goals and 25 assists. Finally, Luke Illgen's 11 goals and 11 assists provide a solid fourth-option for the Cardinals.
Defensively, Trenton Herubin has caused a team-high 18 turnovers followed by Dylan Mlinarich with eight. Jake Allgood has been the Cardinals' primary goalkeeper this season. The junior Naperville native has allowed 87 goals and recorded 99 saves thus far.
Augustana and North Central have battled on four previous occasions. The Vikings hold a 3-1 advantage in the all-time series dating back to 2017. North Central's lone win over the Vikings came in the series' most recent contest.
