WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team was defeated in their final game of the 2022 season on Saturday, falling to the Carroll Pioneers on the road by a score of 17-3.
After five minutes of scoreless action,
Kate Hettiger put the Vikings on the scoreboard first with the first of two goals for the senior. Carroll responded with seven straight goals to close out the first quarter, including one with six seconds showing on the clock to take a six-goal lead into the second. The Pioneers added five more while keeping Augie at their one goal to take a 12-1 advantage into halftime.
Nearly the same amount of time into the second half as when the Vikings earned in the first,
Claire Kim notched the team's second goal of the contest and first of the second half for either team. Carroll tallied two to make it 14-2 with just 15 minutes remaining, sending in three more in the final frame to complete the 17-3 victory. Hettiger added her second of the game at the six-minute mark for Augie's final score.
Rachel Forman stopped six shots in net in 30 minutes of action.
Cassidy Petrie posted a team-high five shots.
With the loss, ends their season with a 5-9 record and 1-5 mark in conference play.
