WHEATON, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will step out of conference on Thursday, April 28 as they take on the Dubuque Spartans in a rescheduled doubleheader on the road.

The Vikings are coming off of a pair of one-run losses on Monday at Carroll, falling in 12 innings in the first by a score of 2-1 before being defeated 3-2 in the finale. The first two runs scored in the opening contest were via an error, with Augie grabbing a 1-0 lead early on before Carroll tied it in the bottom of the seventh to force extras. The Pioneers connected on a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the 12th to complete the win. In game two, the Vikings faced two separate two-run deficits, cutting it to once each time but were unable to catch up as the home team held on for another one-run victory.

Augustana now sits at 18-13 overall and 4-8 in CCIW action. Seven of their eight conference losses have been by two runs or less.

Wheaton currently sits 15-19 overall and 3-11 in conference play. The Thunder will take on non-conference opponent St. Mary's (Ind.) before hosting the Vikings on Friday. The Thunder snapped a four-game losing streak in their last outing, earning a split with Carthage on the road.

Augustana leads the all-time series between the two 44-23. The Vikings won both contests a season ago at home. Start time for Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. Live stats for each game can be found here.
