ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana baseball (23-8, 7-5) welcome rival Illinois Wesleyan (15-15, 6-6) to the Quad Cities this weekend. The Vikings and Titans will face off in a Friday double-header on Senior Day.
IWU enters the weekend at .500 overall and in conference play. The Titans have dropped their last four games including three league defeats to Wheaton and Millikin and a non-conference loss to Division I Eastern Illinois. The Titans' latest win came nearly two weeks ago when they took two of three game from Carroll.
The Illinois Wesleyan offense is led by a trio of .400+ hitters. Dominic DiLello leads the club at .449 followed by Louis Perona at .413 and Evan Ranneklev at .404. DiLello also leads the Titans with a .622 slugging percentage and is tied with DiLello for a team-best 36 runs scored. Ethan Burgh has been a powerful player for IWU with 32 RBI and three home runs, both team-highs.
Jacob Duffy has seen the most action on the mound for the Titans with 45 innings pitched. Duffy has posted four wins in eight starts. Other key arms for Illinois Wesleyan include Josh Davis with 1.74 earned run average and Jacob Cyrus with 43 strikeouts.
Illinois Wesleyan holds a 120-84-1 advantage in the all-time series with Augustana dating back to the 1917 season. The Vikings and Titans split last season's matchups with IWU taking their two home contests and Augie winning two games in Moline.
Augustana and IWU will finish their regular season series on Monday, May 2 in Bloomington, Ill.
