Women's lacrosse to host Carthage on Senior Day

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team will host the Carthage Firebirds on Saturday, April 23 in their final home contest of the 2022 season. The Vikings will recognize seven seniors following the conclusion of the game.

Augie is coming off of a 25-1 home defeat to the No. 21 ranked Chicago Maroons last Saturday. The Maroons jumped out to a 9-0 first-quarter advantage and led 17-0 at the break. Cassidy Petrie got the Vikings on the board late in the fourth quarter to avoid the shutout. Augustana sits at 4-7 on the season and 0-3 in CCIW action.

Senior Kate Hettiger leads the Vikings in goals this season at 21, followed by fellow senior Margaret Cecilio with 20.

Carthage enters Saturday with a 12-2 overall record and 2-1 mark in league play. The Firebirds were also defeated by Chicago in their most recent outing, a 17-8 home loss on Wednesday. Carthage had previously won 12 straight games after falling in their season opener to DePauw.

Augie leads the all-time series between the two, 8-4, but have dropped three straight to the Firebirds after boasting a long-standing win streak. Carthage defeated Augustana last season in Kenosha by a score of 15-3.
