HANOVER PARK, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's tennis team was defeated in a road CCIW contest on Wednesday, falling on the road to the Wheaton Thunder by a score of 6-3.
The Thunder took all three doubles matches for a 3-0 lead heading into singles, winning 8-4, 8-1, 8-0 in all three of the contests. In singles, the Vikings split the matches with the Thunder, picking up wins at the No. 1, 3, and 6 positions.
Arthur Hermange put together a dominant performance at the top spot, defeating his opponent 6-1, 6-1.
Deepak Vayara squeaked out a 7-6 opening set win before taking the second by a score of 6-1 to win at No. 3, while
Gabriel Luna pulled out a three-set victory at No. 6.
With the loss, Augustana drops to 3-11 overall and 1-3 in CCIW play. The team will be back in action on Saturday, April 16 at home against Illinois Wesleyan. Start time is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
