Vikings to host league-leading Illinois Wesleyan in critical matchup

Both teams enter Wednesday on respective winning streaks

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Viking men's lacrosse (8-3, 1-1) is set for a pivotal CCIW matchup this week. On Wednesday, Apr. 13, Augie will host conference-leading Illinois Wesleyan. Both teams are on respective hot streaks as the Vikings have won two straight game and the Titan have won their last four.
 
The Titans enter the week with a 7-4 overall record and a 3-0 mark in conference play. Two of Illinois Wesleyan's losses have come to fourth-ranked Christopher Newport and Catholic University, who was receiving votes to be ranked.
 
IWU has won their last four contests including three league victories over Transylvania, North Central, and Carthage.
 
The Titans' offense is led by defending CCIW Offensive Player of the Week Rick Smith. Smith's 47 total points on 35 goals and 12 assists is tops on the Titan roster. Other key offensive contributors include Carson and Connor Kiichle with a combined 25 goals and 34 assists, and Gage Black's 22 goals.
 
Defensively, Daniel Dickerson, Blake Muschewske, and Michael Campagna have caused 13 turnovers each. Thomas Laduzinsky and Alex Oximana have been the primary goalkeepers with Ladzinsky in the featured role. The senior goalie has allowed 121 scores while saving 136 other shots for a .529 save percentage.
 
Since 2015, Illinois Wesleyan leads the series with Augustana by an 8-2 margin. All eight Titan wins have come in the last eight matches. Augie's last victory in the series came in 2015 when they swept the season's games versus IWU.
