4/11/2022 6:00:00 PM

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will be back at home on Tuesday, April 12 when they host the Monmouth Fighting Scots in a non-conference doubleheader at Carver Field. The games were originally scheduled for Wednesday, April 13, but have since been moved due to forecasted weather.

Augie is coming off two losses at home to the Illinois Wesleyan Titans on Sunday. The Vikings fell in the opener by a score of 7-2 before being defeated 6-4 in the finale. In both games, Augustana tallied five hits off of the bats of five different players. Morgan Bielfeldt and Nadia Ranieri both hit home runs on the day for the Vikings. Augie currently sits 13-8 overall and 1-3 in the CCIW this season.

Monmouth posts a 6-15 overall record this season but are currently in the midst of a five-game winning streak after beginning the year 1-15. All five of their wins during the current stretch have come against conference opponents, splitting a doubleheader with Grinnell before sweeping Ripon and Lawrence in their most recent outings. The Scots are 0-3 against fellow CCIW schools this season, dropping two to Illinois Wesleyan and one to Elmhurst. Two of those three losses were by one run.

Augustana leads the all-time series between the two, 50-21. This will be their first meeting since the 2017 season, which resulted in a doubleheader split in Rock Island. The Vikings are 5-3 since 2014, but have dropped three of the last four.

First pitch of game one is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Live video and live stats will be available for both games.
