ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's water polo team will host a fellow CWPA opponent on Saturday, April 2 as the Carthage Firebirds come to town for the final game inside Anne Greve Lund Natatorium this season.

Augie enters Saturday 3-10 overall following a 2-1 stay at the Wittenberg CWPA regional tournament last weekend in Springfield, Ohio. The Vikings entered the event ranked No. 2 in the latest CWPA top five poll, defeating Macalester by a score of 17-4 and host-school Wittenberg, 15-11. The Vikings were tripped up by the No. 1 team in the CWPA top five, Austin, by a final of 12-7. Alyssa Fricker ended the weekend with a team-high 19 goals through three games, while Olivia Hillhouse also tallied double-digit scores with ten. Lizzie Pelzman secured 17 saves in net through two contests, while Lanie DaSilva grabbed nine against Wittenberg.

This week, the Vikings remained No. 2 in the latest edition of the CWPA top five rankings, as well as No. 9 in the DIII national poll.

Carthage currently sits 0-12 on the season after going 0-3 at the same Wittenberg tournament last weekend. The Firebirds had just two games out in Springfield, falling to both Austin and Wittenberg. The team is currently enduring a 23-game losing streak that dates back to March of 2020.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Start time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. from inside Anne Greve Lund Natatorium. Live video and live stats will both be available for the contest.
