CHICAGO, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will begin their CCIW slate on Sunday, April 3 when they head to the Windy City to take on the North Park Vikings for a conference doubleheader.
Augustana currently sits at 12-5 on the season after wrapping up their spring trip at THE Spring Games down in Florida with a 6-3 record. Seven of the nine games played last week resulted in final margin of two runs or less, with Augustana going 5-2 in those contests. The Vikings closed out the trip with an 8-6 win over Williams last Saturday, erasing a 2-0 deficit with six unanswered in the third. Augie posted nine hits in the contest compared to the Ephs' 11, seeing one from seven different members of the team.
Ashlyn Mathers and
Sydney Ohrtmann led the way with two hits apiece at the plate.Â
The 12 wins for Augustana places them just two away from tying last year's total.
North Park enters the weekend with an 8-4 record overall. The Vikings will open up their CCIW slate on Friday with a road doubleheader against Wheaton before returning home to host Augustana on Sunday. After dropping the first two games of the season, North Park went a five-game winning streak and have won three of their last five since then. Both Viking teams have two common opponents this season in Edgewood and Lawrence, with each picking up wins in those contests.
Augustana holds a 50-12 lead in the all-time series over North Park. Augie won both of their meetings a season ago, sweeping a home doubleheader in April. Augustana has dropped three straight games in Chicago.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Live video and live stats will both be available for each game.
