MOUNT VERNON, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team will officially open up their 2022 season on Saturday, Match 5 when they hit the road to take on the Cornell Rams in a non-conference contest.

The Vikings were originally scheduled to begin the season last Saturday against Benedictine, but the game was called off. Augie enters the 2022 season after posting a 5-10 record in 2021. The Vikings and Rams met for the first-time ever last season, with Cornell taking the game by a score of 8-5 in Rock Island. Kate Hettiger had four goals for the Vikings in the match and returns for her senior season with the program.

Cornell currently sits at 1-1 on the year following a 19-0 victory over Spalding and a 12-11 defeat to Edgewood, who Augie will play in their next outing following Saturday's game. The Rams finished the 2021 season with a 3-6 record and were 0-6 in their respective conference.
