ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Augustana men's lacrosse (5-2) will test their five-game winning streak tomorrow night with a non-conference tilt against Cornell College. The Vikings and Rams will face off on Wednesday, Mar. 30 at 7:00 P.M.
Cornell enters the week with a 3-6 overall record. The Rams got off to a 2-1 start this season with wins over Centenary and Edgewood before dropping three-straight contests. Cornell picked up their most recent win over Beloit on Mar. 16 before falling twice more to MSOE and Concordia Wisconsin.
The Rams are led by Kyle Jussila's 40 total points this season, the most on the team by a wide margin. Jussila has scored 27 goals and assists 13 more times while also attempting 54 shots on goal. John Linderman has also been solid for the Rams with 19 goals and seven assists on a 35% shooting clip.
Evan Begner and Thomas Cook have both seen action in goal for Cornell with Begner taking the primary role. The senior keeper has logged all nine starts for the Rams and allowed 99 goals while recorded 136 saves. Begner's save percentage is currently just below 60%.
Augustana and Cornell have played each other on six previous occasions with the most recent coming in 2020. Augustana has controlled the all-time series, winning every previous match. The Vikings have yet to allow double-digit goals against Cornell, dating back to 2015.
