DUBUQUE, Iowa -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team was defeated on the road on Saturday, falling to the Loras Duhawks in a CCIW matchup by a score of 3-0 (25-15, 28-26, 25-20).

The Duhawks held a small margin for a good portion of the first set, but the Vikings brought it to even two separate times, with the latest at 14-14. From there, Loras answered with six consecutive scores to pull away from Augie and take the first set by a score of 25-15.

In the second, Loras grew an early lead to as many as six before holding a 15-10 lead at one point. The Vikings charged all the way back to tie the game at 22 points before each squad traded scores for the next few rallies. With the set knotted at 26-26, the Duhawks secured back-to-back kills to earn the hard-fought two-point win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.

For the second straight set, the Duhawks found themselves with a 15-10 advantage after slowly building a cushion to begin the frame. This time, Augustana was unable to pose a comeback threat, shrinking the deficit to just three before the home team eventually pulled away for the five-point win.

Aidan Bolen led the offensive attack for the Vikings, finishing with a team-high eight kills. Josh Van Essen was right behind with seven, while Matthew Degnan and Ethan Keung both ended the match with double-digit assists at 12 and 11, respectively.

With the loss, Augustana drops to 6-13 overall and 2-6 in CCIW action. The team will return home for their next contest on Wednesday, March 23 when they host the No. 5 ranked North Central Cardinals. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from inside the Carver Center.
