RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings women's lacrosse team will begin a three-game stretch on the road on Saturday, March 19 when they take on the Concordia-Chicago Cougars in a non-conference matchup.
Augustana is coming off of their first win of the season last weekend, a 12-10 home victory over Wartburg. The Vikings held the Knights scoreless for the final 20 minutes of action and scored the final five goals of the game to erase a three-point, third-quarter deficit to secure the two-point win. The Vikings out-shot the Knights 38-20 in the contest and were plus-14 in the shots on goal category.
Margaret Cecilio, the reigning CCIW Offensive Player of the Week, finished her afternoon with six goals, which is a career-high for the senior.
Kate Hettiger added three scores, the second time in three games she has had that this season.
Concordia-Chicago enters the weekend with a 1-4 record overall. The Cougars are currently enduring a three-game losing streak after picking up a win over fellow CCIW school Elmhurst by a score of 15-2. In their most recent contest, CUC was defeated on the road 11-8 by St. Mary's (Ind.). The Cougars went 11-2 a season ago, with their only two losses coming against NACC champion Aurora.
Saturday will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Start time is scheduled for is 12:00 p.m.
