ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Dan Carr of Augustana Vikings men's basketball has been named to the D3hoops.com All-Region Team, the publication released on Tuesday.
The junior from Highlands Ranch, Colo. earned Second Team honors in Region 8 after leading the team in points, rebounds, field goals made, free throw percentage, and blocks. His 13.4 rebounding average is good for top of the conference, also ranking sixth in the nation in that category. The mark also ties him for highest average in a single season. He joins Steve Snow at the top of the list, who posted the same mark during the 1968-69 slate. Carr's 348 total rebounds places him fourth all-time in a single season.
In 26 games this season, Carr has notched 18 double doubles, good for ninth-most in the nation, and grabbed double-digit boards in 20 contests. He has two 20-rebound performances this year, including a 20/20 effort in which he tallied 26 points and 24 rebounds in a road win over Carthage. The 24 rebounds are tied for fourth all-time in Augustana history and the most since 1981. He also posted a career-high scoring effort on the road against No. 3 Illinois Wesleyan this season with 28 points.
Carr is one of seven CCIW players to earn All-Region honors this season. Players chosen to the D3hoops.com All-Region team are eligible for All-American selection.Â
Players were nominated for these awards by the Sports Information Directors at the various schools, and schools and conferences were each contacted multiple times as the season wound down to remind them to make their players eligible. There were 746 players nominated nationwide. The ballot was then made available to SIDs, who voted for a predetermined number of players in their region.Â
