CHICAGO – The Augustana women's basketball team (11-10, 5-7) extended their winning streak to four games this evening with a 55-46 triumph at North Park (14-6, 7-5).
 
Augustana avenged a loss from earlier this season in the defensive affair. Both teams had relatively slow starts with just 25 combined points in the first period. Augie outscored North Park again in the second and held the hosts to just points in the period. Augustana held a 27-22 advantage at the break.
 
The Augie offense saw improvement in their efficiency and outcome in the third quarter with equally impressive defense. Augustana outscored NPU 16-9 in the third quarter. North Park eventually got things running smoothly in the final period, but their improved play came too late as Augustana won confidently.
 
Gabriela Loiz and Hannah Simmer led the Viking offense with 14 points and 13 points, respectively. Lauren Hall led Augie on the glass with 10 rebounds followed by Loiz' seven rebounds and Simmer's six. Macy Beinborn proved lethal on the defensive end with a career-high four blocks.
 
Jayla Johnson poured in a game-high 20 points for North Park. Johnson also added five rebounds and five steals. Esther Miller also posted 14 points.
 
Augie will remain away from home for their next game when they travel to Elmhurst on Monday, Feb. 7 for a rescheduled CCIW clash.
