PEORIA, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings softball team will begin their 2022 campaign on Thursday, February 24 when they take on the first of two days at the Mount Mary Slugger Series at the Louisville Slugger Sports Complex.

Augie will take on the Lawrence Vikings in their season opener on Thursday. Lawrence is coming off of a 7-17 record during their 2021 slate and will take on Augie in the second of two games to begin their stay at the Slugger Series. It will be the first-ever meeting between the two Viking programs. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.

In their second contest on Thursday, Augustana faces the Dominican Stars. It will be the first game of the season for the Stars after finishing the 2021 season with an 11-20 record. Thursday night's matchup will also be a first-ever encounter between Augustana and Dominican, with first pitch scheduled to take place at approximately 6:00 p.m.

The Vikings will hit the diamond early on Friday against the Edgewood Eagles. The two programs have played just once before, with Augie earning the victory in the lone meeting. Edgewood will begin their Friday slate at 8:00 a.m. against Lawrence, followed by the final contest of their trip against Augustana at 10:00 a.m. The Eagles concluded their 2021 season with an overall record of 9-31.

Augustana rounds out the first of two trips to Peoria this season with the Lincoln Lynx on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The two teams will meet for the first time at the Slugger Series. The Lynx finished 3-27 last season.

This is the second consecutive year the Vikings will be competing in the Mount Mary Slugger Series. Last season, they finished 2-0 with wins over Mount Mary and Concordia-Chicago.
