SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- The Augustana Vikings women's water polo team will be back in action February 19-20 up in Minnesota at the Macalester Invite as they get set to face four teams over the two-day invitational.

On Saturday, Augustana opens up against Occidental at 10:30 a.m. The Tigers come in ranked No. 9 in the latest NCAA DIII rankings. They currently sit at 0-2 on the season following losses to Division I opponent USC and No. 3 ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. In their last full season in 2020, the Tigers ended the year with a 2-6 record.

In the second contest of the day, the Vikings square off with No. 6 ranked La Verne. This will be the first of two meetings this season against them, with the other coming in early March in California. The Leopards are 0-2 this season following losses to Whittier and Biola. They finished 10-5 in their last full season back in 2020. Start time is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

Augustana will begin Sunday's slate against another ranked opponent at the DIII level in Chapman, who comes in at No. 5. The Panthers have not played in a contest this season and will play their first games on Saturday against Wittenberg and Macalester. Chapman finished 0-13 back in 2020 and will be looking for their first win since April 2019 this weekend. Start time between Augie and Chapman is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.

The Vikings round out the invite with a 1:00 p.m. matchup against the Ottawa (Ariz.) Spirit. They sit 1-9 so far this year after a competitive start to their season and recently defeated Salem in a close battle by a score of 16-15.

Augie is looking to bounce back following a 20-9 defeat to McKendree in their season opener. The Vikings went scoreless in the first quarter and attempted to play catch-up the rest of the way. Alyssa Fricker led the offensive attack with four goals and two assists.
