DECATUR, Ill. -- The Augustana Vikings men's volleyball team will begin conference play on Tuesday, February 15 when they hit the road to take on the Millikin Big Blue in each team's first CCIW match of the season.
The Vikings are coming off of a 1-2 trip to St. Louis at the Fontbonne Invitational. The Vikings were defeated by the host school on Friday by a score of 3-1 and earned a split on Saturday after a 3-0 loss to Trine and 3-0 victory over Concordia-Chicago.
Ben Schultz led a balanced attack for Augustana in the win over the Cougars, tallying a team-high six kills.
Aidan Bolen,
Josh Van Essen, and
Matthew Degnan all added five, while
Max Sellers secured double-digit digs at ten through the three games played. Degnan also had a match-high 20 assists.
Millikin currently sits at 0-8 so far this season, having just one set all season. Their most recent outing came on Saturday, a 3-0 defeat to St. Norbert in a neutral-site contest. The Big Blue and Vikings have two common opponents this season in Adrian and Marian. Augie defeated Adrian before falling to Marian early this month in Dubuque, while Millikin is 0-3 versus those teams this year.
Augustana leads the all-time series between the two 3-0, having won in consecutive sets all three times.
